Looking Your Best Begins Before Your

Portrait Session

Looking Your Best Begins Before Your Portrait Session

The portraits people treasure most rarely happen by accident. They're the result of thoughtful planning long before the camera comes out

Clothing, colors, hairstyle, the selection of your Signature Destination, and the purpose of your portraits all work together to create portraits that feel natural, confident, and unmistakably you.

Whether you're planning high school senior portraits, a professional business headshot, an author's portrait, an actor's portfolio, a political campaign portrait, or another individual portrait, this guide will help you prepare with confidence.

Prefer to Talk Instead?

Some people enjoy reading a guide like this.

Others would rather simply ask their questions.

Either approach is perfectly fine.

If you'd rather have a conversation, we'd be happy to schedule a convenient Planning Consultation by Zoom or at our Southlands studio.

We'll answer your questions, discuss your ideas, and help you begin planning your portrait experience with confidence.

Call (303) 699-2200 or schedule your Planning Consultation today. Then, if you'd like, come back and finish reading the guide.

Dress Like Yourself—On Your Best Day

  • Not a costume.
  • Not someone else's fashion.
  • You.

Great portraits aren't created by trying to become someone else.

They're created by feeling comfortable enough to simply be yourself.

Choose clothing that reflects your personality rather than the latest trend.

Timeless choices create timeless portraits.

Every Choice Should Reflect You

Clothing is only one part of your portrait.

Colors, textures, accessories, hairstyle, and the selection of your Signature Destination should work together to support the portrait you want to create.

Our goal is simple:

People should notice you first—not your clothing.

Planning Builds Confidence

Most people begin with the same questions:

  • "What should I wear?"

  • "Will this color photograph well?"

  • "Which Signature Destination best reflects me?"

  • "What if I don't know what to do in front of the camera?"

Those questions are completely normal.

That's why every portrait experience begins with thoughtful planning.

During your Planning Consultation, we'll discuss the purpose of your portraits, help with the selection of your Signature Destination, recommend clothing that complements your location, and answer every question before your portrait session begins.

Preparation builds confidence.

Confidence allows us to create portraits that genuinely reflect who you are.

Bring Choices—We'll Help You Decide

You don't have to arrive wearing the "perfect" outfit.

Bring several choices.

If you're bringing new clothing, leave the tags on until after we discuss what would work best during your portrait session.

Sometimes your favorite outfit isn't the one that photographs best.

Together, we'll review your choices before your portrait session begins and recommend combinations that photograph beautifully.

Creating Your Portraits Together

One of the things our clients appreciate most is being part of the creative process.

Throughout your portrait session, we'll review your portraits together on the back of the camera. If something doesn't feel quite right, we'll adjust it.

If you feel an expression could be stronger, we'll simply photograph it again until you're happy with the result.

Exceptional portraits aren't created by chance. They're created together.

We believe the best portraits aren't simply selected. They're recognized.

Together, we'll recognize the portraits that truly reflect you.

Portraits Chosen Together

The portrait session doesn't end when the camera is put away.

Throughout your portrait session, you've already helped shape your portraits by reviewing them together on the back of the camera.

Now it's time to choose the portraits that best tell your story. The people who know you best often recognize expressions, smiles, and little moments that no one else could fully appreciate.

That's why we believe the best portraits aren't simply selected. They're recognized.

Together we'll review your favorite portraits, professionally hand-retouch each one, and prepare finished artwork you'll be proud to display and share for years to come.

Every Portrait Has A Purpose

Every portrait begins with a purpose.

  • Some celebrate a graduation.
  • Some introduce a new career.
  • Some appear on the back of a book.
  • Some become campaign portraits.

Knowing that purpose allows us to recommend the right Signature Destination, clothing, lighting, and portrait style long before your session begins.

Thoughtful planning creates stronger portraits.

The Portrait You're Hoping to See

Every senior or person seeking individual photography from Picture It Studios, deserves a portrait experience that reflects who they truly are.

That often includes every business professional, author, actor, political candidate, and every individual who trusts us with an important portrait.

Everything we've discussed is designed with one purpose.

Not simply to create a beautiful portrait, but one that genuinely reflects you.

The goal of every portrait isn't simply to create a beautiful photograph. It's to create the moment when someone sees their new portrait and quietly thinks..

"That's me."

Ready To Begin?

  • Senior portraits
