At Picture It Studios, our Aurora family photographers help preserve both—with thoughtful preparation, experienced guidance, and portraits your family will treasure long after the occasion has passed.


At our Aurora family portrait studio we photograph both Immediate Family Portraits (3 to 8 persons) and Extended Family Portraits (8 to 32 persons). Our photographers provide guided posing, real-time camera reviews, and thoughtful retouching to help everyone look their best.

Our Immediate Family photography sessions give parents and children a relaxed, professionally guided experience, whether you prefer family pictures in our portrait studio or at a carefully selected outdoor location.


We help with posing, clothing coordination, expressions, and real-time adjustments so the final images feel natural, polished, and lasting.

Extended Family Portraits

Designed for larger groups, multiple families, and multiple generations. These sessions are built for grandparents, adult children, grandchildren, and larger family combinations. We keep the process organized, guide the group efficiently, and help create portraits that feel coordinated without putting the burden on you to manage everyone. ​

• Grandparents with children and grandchildren

• Multi-generational gatherings

• Larger family groups

If your session includes parents and their children only, start with Immediate Family Portraits.


If your session includes grandparents, married children, grandchildren, siblings’ families, or multiple households, start with Extended Family Portraits.

A recent Aurora Family Portrait Session

Recently a local Aurora family brought three generations together for portraits at Picture It Studios. We began with a family portrait of the entire family, then created smaller groupings of grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. By showing the images on the back of the camera during the session, everyone could see how great the portraits looked right away, which helped everyone relax and enjoy the experience. Many families choose to schedule their family portraits around seasonal gatherings such as Spring and Easter, when everyone is together.



What Should We Wear?









For both types of family portraits, we recommend coordinated clothing with blended colors rather than everyone matching exactly.


Many families already have strong options in their closet. And if this gives you a reason to pick up something new, that works too.

Professional portraits are available at our Family Portrait Studio, both In-Studio or Outdoors, or On-Location depending on the selected portrait package.

* Wall Portraits come with a (mounted) backing to ensure your portrait will stand the test of time.

* A $75 booking-fee required at time of booking any collection at Southshore or beyond.

* Ideally, on-location sessions should be booked at least 1 week in advance, but sooner appointments may be available if requested.

* Collections' Contents are customizable.

* Collections include all sitting-fees.
